Condolences to the family, friends and colleagues of Dr. Hester. I had the pleasure of making his acquaintance as related to his writings associated with Alfred Richardson.
Through Dr. Hester, my family and I learned so much about and became even more proud of him (Alfred) and his family and, in turn, ourselves. We are forever thankful for his work and interest in our ancestor.
May he rest well and in peace eternally.

I was fortunate enough to be one of Dr. Hester's students in 1977-1979. He was an excellent professor and inspired me. My condolences to his family. May his memory always be for blessings of comfort to all who knew and loved him.

My heart goes out to Conoly, Kathy and the rest of the family. I had the opportunity to meet Al several times while working with Conoly at the Athens Banner-Herald. It was always a pleasure. He was a fine man and great scholar and prof of journalism. Although I didn't go to UGA, Al was the type of prof that made me wish I had. Our thoughts are with you.
