Albert F. Lucas

Dover – Albert F. Lucas, 79, of 4 Independence Dr. died Wednesday November 16, 2005 at the Wentworth-Douglass Hospital.

Born in Dover on August 22, 1926 the son of Irving F. and Rachel J. (Clark) Lucas and has lived here all of his lifetime. He attended Dover High School and joined the U.S. Navy, when he was 16-years old, serving during World War II. He was a call firefighter with the Dover Fire Department for more than 35-years where he was Captain of the Engine 3 Company. He was a member of the Strafford County Forest Fire Wardens Association, the York County Firefighters Association and the Interstate Emergency Mutual Aid Association.

Prior to his retirement he was employed at the Elliott Rose Co. for more than 40 years.

He is survived by his wife of 57 years Arlene M. (Illingworth) Lucas of Dover, a brother Kenneth Lucas of No. Conway, two sisters Barbara Dinwoodie of Barrington, Jackie Labbe of Rollinsford and nieces and nephews.

A sister Harriet Carpenter predeceased him

There are no calling hours. Funeral services will be held 10:00 a.m. Tuesday at the Tasker Funeral Home, 621 Central Ave. with Rev. Elsa Worth, chaplain at the Wentworth-Douglass Hospital officiating. Burial will follow in Pine Hill Cemetery.

Dear Mrs. Lucas,
I am so very sorry for the passing of Al. He was a very dear friend of my father, Paul E. Chase. I have fond memories of the two of them heading out to their Firemen Events with Digger Hughes. PLease except my sympathy. He will be missed.

So sorry to hear of the passing of Albert. I first met him at Elliott Rose co. We worked together. I am a former fire chief from Madbury and went to a lot of fire meetings with Al. We had some good times. He will be missed. My sincere sympathy to the family.

I was saddened to read of the death of Albert. I will always have fond memories of the days that we worked together at the greenhouse. Our thoughts and prayers go out to you. Dear Arlene, So sorry to hear that Albert passed away. I willl always remember you two up at Aunt Mildred and Uncle Sam's when I was little and all the fun we had. Joe and I will be thinking of you, Ken, Jackie and Barbara, Love, Bertha Ann
