Not sure what to say?

In all my years growing up, there were only 2 teachers that had such an impact on me that I remember them dearly to this day. Mr. Markowitz was one of them. His enthusiasm for teaching history brought the subject to life in a thrilling way. I was always amazed that, as I recall, he never needed to use notes when he lectured, which made it all the more fascinating. God bless you, Mr. M! May your memory be eternal. And may your family take great comfort in knowing how many lives your life...

I was truly blessed to have Mr. Markowitz as a teacher. Even after all these years I still think of him and the impression he left on me. Not only a scholar but a true gentleman. God Bless!! May his memory be eternal!!! Class of '87

I am so sorry to hear that my Uncle Albert passed away. That completes Grandma Tillie's circle of children. I love them and miss them all. I know they are altogether eating Grandma Tillie's apple pies.

I was so sad to hear of Mr. Markowitz's passing. I am struck by the number of former students who have included their remembrances of him, even after many, many years. He was the kind of teacher who definitely left a lasting impression. I think I became a teacher myself because of my positive experiences with teachers like Mr. Markowitz. My sympathies to his family.

Mr. Markowitz was a very tough but wonderful teacher. Our deepest sympathies for your loss.

My condolences to the Family. I am one of many that were fortunate to have him as a Teacher and a Friend
Louise Roth Gartzman (Mather 65)

What a blessing to have been a student of Mr. Markowitz. He was a joy! He brought us with him on the journey into the past, teaching in a way that the lessons were never forgotten. My condolences to the family and friends of this remarkable teacher.

I graduated from Mather in 1965, and was lucky to have been in two of Mr. Markowitz's history classes. He brought the ancient world to life for us with his enthusiasm for, and knowledge of, the subject he loved so much. He is one of the few teachers I so vividly remember, and still talk about. I was lucky to have seen him at the Mather 50th "birthday" in 2009. He will be greatly missed by those of us who knew him. My condolences to his family for your loss.

I had Mr. Markowitz for Modern European History as a sophomore at Mather during the 1964-65 academic year. He was one of those rare teachers who I vividly remember all these years later. His devotion to both his students and to his profession were extraordinary. He certainly had an impact on me by the example he set.
