Not sure what to say?

The humble, nonchalant man who was Al Meserlin wore his heart on his sleeve, especially when it came to remembering his time in service in WWII Europe. One of Al's greatest wishes was to be able to locate the soldiers in his photos with General Eisenhower and give them copies. When he was feted in France at the site of the German WWII surrender, Al was bombarded with autograph requests. "But I was just the photographer!" he told them. They still loved him, as do all of us who got to know him...

Al was such a kind man. I enjoyed getting to know him and I will miss the friendship we shared.

May to love of God bring you peace, Love Sarah and Glenn Mergogey

It was a privelege to have gotten to know Al. We first meet at the Black Forest Restaurant where I was a waitress. Over the years our friendship evolved to a point of becoming a dear friend. I will always cherish our time with Al & Irene at the Parker House an after by their swimming pool.

The staff of the NJ National Guard Militia Museum in Sea Girt are deeply saddened by Al Meserlin's passing, and would like to extend our sincere sympathy to his family.

Al was a real friend to the museum, stopping by frequently, relating his WWII experiences to staff and visitors, and sharing his wonderful historical photos with us. He was a witness to and primary source for some of the most significant historical events of our times, and a decent caring human being.
