Albert W. Newton, 98, of Portland, PA passed away Friday, October 8th, at Chandler Estates, Pen Argyl, PA.


Albert was born in Summit Hill, PA on August 28, 1923, a son of the late James and Anna (Sandt) Newton.


He was the husband of the late Theresa Marie (Gadzinski) Newton, who passed away in 2018. Albert was a 1941 graduate of Bangor High School. He was worked as an Operating Engineer for Operating Engineer Union Local #542 for 25 years. After that, he worked at the former Pocono Medical Center until retiring. He was a member of the Portland Boro Water Company and enjoyed spending time with family and his beloved dogs.


 Albert proudly served in the U.S. Navy in World War II in the Pacific Theater.


Albert was a member of Portland Baptist Church in Portland, PA.


Albert is survived by two sons Craig Newton, husband of Stacy, and Jason C. Newton,
a stepson, Thomas Riley, husband of Antonia, a brother, Clifford Newton, husband of Kay, 2 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-granddaughter. He was predeceased by a sister Jean Vince and brother-in-law Andrew Vince.


Graveside Services will be held on Friday, October 15, 2021, at 2 PM at Fairview Cemetery, Middletown Rd., Pen Argyl, PA. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Gaffney Parsons Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Inc., "Village of Johnsonville" Bangor, PA. Online condolences may be offered at gaffneyparsons.com.
