Not sure what to say?

My condolences to the family. I recently came across a letter and postcard with Al and his cheetah. I was in grade school in PA when he wrote me back. It was his early story to me that got me started down the path In my love for animals. I wish I would have had the chance to meet him before his passing. But I wanted to say thank you.

I know this momento is ‘way late, but I guess that’s proof of the indelible nature of Al Oeming’s personality: Back in the ‘70’s I was doing deliveries for Silverwood’s Dairy (now defunct) and on a run, returning from Sherwood Park, I stopped to help a guy whose stationwagon had broken down. Turns out it was the man himself, Al Oeming. During the half-hour trip into Edmonton, it was evident to me that he was a great raconteur with a ready sense of humour. I will never forget him telling...

Al was a good friend to my Dad Benjamin Curtis..As a child we used to visit a lot with him and May...

I was so sorry to hear of him passing. I remember him coming to my School with his cheetah. We visited the farm many times when we were young. God bless

I got to know Al While living in Terrace B.C.He appeared on my TV show several times in the 60's with Tawana. He will always be remembered with love, and admiration.

Al Oeming, Canadian Hero, thank you.

We were neighbours of Al's and saw him annually when he came into 'South Cooking Lake Greenhouses' each Spring to buy his red cabbage. I always enjoyed chatting with him and greatly admired his twinkly blue eyes. I wanted to ask him for his autograph but I never did because I was too shy. My husband and his family experienced the Game Farm at its peak and I have enjoyed hearing the stories about the elephant being walked in the ditch, and the occasional stray beast that wandered onto our...

Al was truly a great friend and he will be greatly missed! I will always remember the good chats we had while sitting with Percy the Pelican and the many carriage rides! The many treasures he gave me for "riding" his horses to keep them in shape will be forever cherished. Al is a true Canadian icon and now a legend! Todd and Thelon you have so much to be proud of, my heart grieves for you. Godspeed Al, thanks for the memories.Till we meet again my friend,
Heather Bettke

I remember Al Oeming and his pilot coming to Ennadai Lake several times, way back in 1966. He was truly unforgettable.
