Daddy,
You taught me all about the things that truly matter in life, except how to deal with a hole in my heart that is 2 sizes too big....I miss our talks, and your hugs. I miss hearing you tell joke #42 (no one could deliver the punchline quite like you). I miss your delight in simple things from God, like the sunshine (although, you'll always be mine). I will carry the life lessons I learned from you no matter where I go...and, when things get really tough, I'll just start singing...

Dad gave us so much -a loving home life, a zest for knowledge, respect for others, the world of travel, and unbounded humor. I'd like to end these reminisces of a great man with a joke I'm sure he'd enjoy. This one's for you Dad!
As a young man, Norton was an exceptional golfer. At the age of 26, however, he decided to become a priest, and joined a rather peculiar order. He took the usual vows of poverty, chastity, but his order also required that he quit golf and never play again....

I will never forget a dinner I had with just Gram, Gramp, and I where the two of them opened the world of their youth and adventures. I have never met someone so engaging and animated as my grandfather as he described his experiences during the war. His passion for his country, neighbors, and family always shone through and I can only hope that I am blessed with half the compassion and bravery that he embodied in his life. What I love the most is that he not only lived his full life, but he...

I cannot believe it's been a year since you've left us Gramp - Like Shannon said, I think the time passes quickly because you are constantly with us. Ever the "humorist", I thought of you recently when I needed a laugh and picked up the 'Pretty Good Joke Book' you gave me. Though I regret not being able to spend more time with you, I'll cherish all of the moments I did. You brought warmth and happiness to everyone around you, and as I read your lengthy list of service and community...

As the one-year anniversary approached I found myself searching for a quote befitting of my Father's life.
I think Winston Churchill's words fit the bill:
"I am ready to meet my Maker. Whether my Maker is prepared for the great ordeal of meeting me is another matter"
I know Dad watches over this family. I think Dad laughs when we make mistakes. I am positive Dad smiles when we get it right. And, I will miss him until we meet again..! All My Love - Brian

It is hard to believe that it's been almost a year sinced you've past Gramp. Maybe that's because you are still living in us, in our hearts. I am so grateful that my kids were able to spend time with you. You have passed down a part of you to each of them. I can see you in Tanner- The Professor- as he reads book after book, eager to learn. In Owen- Oscar- he is the funny one, he will carry on your jokes for many years to come!! We've missed you so very much, but love you in our hearts...

Mrs. Ott, Alyce, John, Allan & Brian; I was so very sorry to hear about Mr. Ott's passing. The memories that I have of him and your family throughout my childhood and even pretty recently will stay with me forever. He was a warm, genuine, loving, man with a wonderful sense of humor! Remembering the familiy outings we had and the "Mr. Ott jokes" will always be such a wonderful part of my life (the great fun we always had!). It was certainly a pleasure to know him (and love him) so well,...
