Al illustrated a number of my articles during the 30 years we worked together, but except for when his wife died, I don't believe we ever had a serious conversation. It was all light-hearted fun. He was a humble, self-deprecating guy, as anyone can tell from his nickname. I will miss him at future Press gatherings. He's in my prayers.
