Albert Sheriff Jr., 52, of Reading, PA passed on Monday, February 6, 2017 at St. Joseph Hospital PSH.
Born May 27, 1964 in Reading, PA at the Community General Hospital, he was the fifth child and the "baby boy" born to Genecka (Moore) Sheriff and the late Albert Sheriff, Sr. He was born into a God-fearing and loving family.
His church home was St. James Chapel C.O.G.I.C. that was very vital to the strong, caring and loyal man he became.
After graduating from Reading High School, he enlisted in the United States Army. He was a professional boxer in the light-heavy weight class. He had 10 bouts: 5W-4L-1D and he was the Pennsylvania Golden Gloves Champion.
With the playground right across the street in the "6th Ward", he acquired the name "Bubble Gum". Back in the day, if you returned bottles back to the store, you would receive a nickel and he would buy gum. (Even as a lad, he had a hustle).
As a teenager, he worked for his uncle at Danny Moore's Barber Shop. Albert also worked as a truck driver for Penske Trucking and as a Correctional Officer at Berks County Prison.
He loved to write poetry and enjoyed listening to Etta James and telling jokes.
He leaves to cherish his memory, his mother Genecka Sheriff; sons, Trevor S. Sheriff of Reading, PA and Nathan Sheriff of Lancaster; PA; former wife, Cecily L. Crawl; brothers, Steve Anthony Sheriff, Sr. (Minerva) and Tony K. Sheriff all of Reading, PA; sisters, Camilla Denise Clardy (Darius), Marguerita Y. Sheriff, Alycia J. Carlisle (Royce) all of Reading, PA, Freeda S. Baxter (Alan) of Coatesville, PA and Genean Merritt (Allan) of Arlington, TX and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews cousins and friends.
“Daddy” Albert Sheriff, Sr. in 2005 & nephew, Bryce J. Sheriff in 2004, predeceased him.
He was a son, brother, uncle, father, cousin, nephew, godfather and loyal friend and will be sadly missed
