Not sure what to say?

Skaggs-Thought of you tonight. I didn´t remember you were born in Alabama but it´s funny because I´m closing on a house in Alabama in 3 weeks. You sure are missed.

Chad, I remember you so clearly, especially since I took your class at GSU and we became friends after that Thanks so much for being in my life for such a long time! Beverly Molander

This afternoon I was wondering about Chad and discovered his passing. Chad taught Journalism (writing and reporting) at Georgia State, and I remember his makes-sense kind of teaching, his sense of humor, and his friendship. He had a 9 a.m. class and gave me permission to come in late, as I was the MARTA Traf fic Watch reporter and my last report was at 8:59 a.m. (as I recall). I got up at 4 a.m. to leave Lake Allatoona to be at work at 6:20 a.m. By the time I got to his basement class it...

I loved reading again about his life. I knew a lot of it through his various stories...which our whole family liked to listen to. I was about 40 when I changed careers and went to SUNY Brockport for Journalism. I had 4 young children and he let me bring the two youngest to classes when their school was out and gave them paper and markers to play with in his classes. When he'd come to visit us, he would bring his guitar and we'd sit outside and sing way past dark. The kids loved him too.

A great instructor, with a sense of humor and humility. Loved him and his friendship and missed him when he left Georgia State University.

Chad was my favorite journalism professor at Georgia State University and from him, I learned that truth was worth the price paid. When I was told by someone on high not to publish an investigative story, Chad told me "Do what you think is right and I'll back you." I did. he did and I learned.

Thank you for the knowledge, thank you for the courage and most of all, thank you for the support and friendship!

Rest in peace, my friend...

Even after some time has passed, losing someone so dear is still palpable and missing them will always be there.
I'm still thinking of you and the sweet man who had to leave.
Love you always,
Maggie
