Albert Somit

Awww! So sorry to hear this! When I started at SIU in 1983, two things I could be sure of: (1) President Somit's long legs would be striding through the Student Center at some point during the day; and (2) if President Somit could get out of his driveway during the winter, we would have classes, no matter the weather! He seemed like such a genial fellow, loaded with energy, and just a regular guy, putting on no airs or showing off because he was guy in charge. I think he did SIU proud.
