Al loved willing and his friends , mosty l on the later, but always certain of the latter. I lost my wife, Marthe, in 1999 to Aheimerz and I do hope to call if not too long. Warren and Judy are also gone. I too mish him, you and Spring and Laural, Warren and I took her baby shoe to theOrical of Delphia.

I have certainly thought of Al and Robin and Spring since Al's death. Wrote several letters, never sent, seemed not enough. Robin and Al were straight out of central casting in Hollywood, I thought, the perfect couple in spirit, beauty and affection for each other. I watched them go some of life's most difficult items with grace and care for each other. I will sent the letter so Spring will know my viewpoint of their lives. I always felt privileged to be in their circle and to watch Al's...

AL ULMER, Emene via Enugu

Early in 1962, Peace Corps Nigeria assigned Al Ulmer and me to the Roman Catholic schools run by Holy Ghost Fathers in Emene, a village not far from Enugu on the road going east.

Al was placed in charge of science instruction at St Patrick's Secondary School. He also coached athletics on hot afternoons, and, for a time in 1963, he served as headmaster.
