I knew Al from my time at Deacon. As smart and witty as any man I ever met. Probably the last time I saw Al was in the late 80's, but to this day, situations bring to mind stories he told and I think back to conversations we had. Al was a co-worker, friend, mentor and just a great guy. Al was extremely smart, patriotic, and friendly. He was opinionated, but tolerated other opinions as long as they were well founded. Al had the most outstanding array of stories and jokes of any person I have ever met. He could pull up a story or joke related to whatever the conversation was at the time.
