Albert Andrew Will, Jr.

Al was a force of nature and law unto himself. His busy obituary grossly undersells what he did to educate, motivate and help others. If anyone had a question about plants, or just about anything, Al always knew the correct answer. While it is very sad that Al has gone to his heavenly rest, we can take comfort from knowing him and that his spirit will live on. Al would not want anyone to feel sad or stop, he always wanted everyone to keep busy working, eat good food, and then feel satisfied...

As a former colleague of Al's at Broward College, Al showed me how to harvest and eat fresh hearts of palm, and he invited me and my students to join him on several memorable Everglades field trips. Always humorous, Al whipped out a large machete when a student had a tiny leech stuck fast to his leg after a dip to rinse off the Everglades muck in a deep freshwater lake.
