Congressman Hasting has always been like family. My father Judge Edward Rodgers and Alcee attended Florida AM first law school for African Americans so there was always gatherings of the 2 over the years. They would say that most of the attendees became judges or other high profile position. They were so much alike in the way they would make humor of their lives and every day situations. They both have passed on and my hope is that they would see each other and will be able to joke about...

Our sincerest condolences on the passing of my classmate(Fisk). We affectionately called each other "horse". My husband and children loved him. He was "Uncle AL", to them.

Representative Alcee Hastings lead the campaign to stop the torture and consumption of dogs in the meat trade. I greatly admire him for that. Our state of Florida was fortunate to have Congressman Hastings representing us for so many years.

My deepest condolences to the family of one of the greatest men that ever walked this earth. I cannot ever in my lifetime thank him enough for his dedication and efforts to end the dog and cat meat trade in Asia. He is my hero. A righteous man whom I honor and respect right down to my soul. I am so lucky to have been able to have met him, work with his office and even sit in his chair on my trips to DC to help push his legislations against the trade.
