Not sure what to say?

With fall approaching I always think of the Yummiest mince meat ever which Al shared so willingly every year. Thank you Al Long for many memories of having an office next to mine and calling me "Subaru" simply because I didn´t like coconut. Not sure of the connection of the two but it was his nickname just for me.

Alden Long was my Greek prof. He was always encouraging and full of stories. Bless his loving family as we all thank God for his love for Christ and his students.

Al Long was my friend and, teacher at Messiah in both Greek and Bible. He was a man who loved the Lord, his family, and his students. I shall be forever indebted to Al for blessings in the ministry and life. Prayers for his wonderful family of Ted, Wendy, and John and his siblings.

I had professor long for prophets in college. I learned many, many things from him. I am sorry for your loss.

To the man who vowed to call me Subaru until I learned to like coconut...I treasure every memory of this human. He always made me laugh and made a mean batch of mince meat....best I ever had and he was always willing to share. Never did learn to like coconut but there is indeed and always will be a special place in my heart for my friend Al Long.

Al was an amazing presence at Messiah College and at Grantham Church—both of which he served well. After his retirement he became a welcome and regular visitor to the library where he came to read the paper and join in at break time for coffee. He always had interesting comments to make. Just a few weeks ago I saw him riding his scooter and gave him a wave. I will miss him. My condolences to you all as you grieve this loss.

Al was my "big brother" when we came to Messiah College in 1980. His wisdom, sense of humor, and knowledge of Messiah College's culture were encouraging. We worked together on the Student Development Committee for several years. Our family was blessed by many acts of kindness from Al and Mary. I am thankful for the many lives which were shaped for good by his dedication. Wendy, Ted, and John - you have our love and prayer support.

Ted, Wendy, and John - I am so sorry to hear of your dad's passing. He was a wonderful person and a man of great faith. After the opening of Boyer Hall we were next-door office mates on the 4th floor. I have fond memories of our frequent conversations. I will always remember the ever-present smile on your dad's face. May you experience God's peace and grace during this difficult time. Dean Curry

Al was my Bible professor at Messiah, and every class was more like a revival than a a college class. He literally "preached" his lessons, and His love for the Lord was obvious in all that he did. Happy homecoming!
