Not sure what to say?

Al and Ann were our neighbors for many years. Ray and I are deeply saddened by the news of Al´s passing. They were such a sweet couple and we had many fun times with them and our other neighbors. Drew and Alan, we are so sorry we could not attend the funeral as we are in Arizona visiting Tammy and for Christmas, we were in Utah visiting Tara. Please know our hearts and prayers go to you and your families.

I worked with Al for 10 years at Udell Refrigeration. He was a great teacher of the trade and always made it fun. He made a huge impact on my knowledge of my career job. Friend to everyone and always helping others where ever he was. He and Ann raised 2 awesome sons that carry on his legacy. Jack Berry

My family lived across the street from the Balcam family in Blythefield Acres for many years. Al was one of the most friendly and happy person I have ever known. I remember him on his John Deere tractor either mowing the lawn or plowing snow. He always had a greeting or a wave for people passing by. He always offered a helping hand if he saw you working in the yard. When I would come home to visit my parents, Al would always come over to say hello and ask how I was doing. I don´t think I ever...

Alan, Drew and family, we were so sorry to hear of the loss of your father. What a wonderful man he was. So many fond memories of him as well as your mom. He will be truly missed by many. May it be comforting to know that he is in a better place and will be looking over you and your families. God Bless you all and we will certainly try to make it to his memorial service. Take care and once again, very sorry for your loss.

Al was one of our favorite neighbors growing up in Blythefield Acres. We enjoyed watching him cook steaks and burgers. He helped us on more than one occasion to fix our 1969 Dodge. Al was a most generous soul. May he Rest In Peace.

Al and his first wife Ann and my wife and I were members of St. Stephen Lutheran Church near Rockford for several years back in the early 1990s. We got to know them pretty well. Al and I always had things to talk about. He was in the HVAC world working in the field and I worked for a mechanical contractor as their CFO. There were lots of stories we could share. Eventually we left and joined Bethlehem Lutheran and St. Stephenson was sold and is now called The Tribes. I suppose that´s...

one of the nicest men we have ever known

Well, Al married my first cousin Ann when I was 10 years old and I thought he was the coolest boy! ... and I just loved his bad boy vibe that went with his great big heart. He was the best husband to Ann and our family just loved him. And it carried on to the next generation...my daughter said "he was always so jolly, and made me feel welcome whenever we were together for family events." Thats Al...and we will miss him!
