What a wonderful man was Al ... I met him in 2013 while staying at the Hotel Monteleone. He approached me while I was gazing at the beauteous carved grandfather clock in the front lobby. He engaged me in conversation (no shock there) and then he asked about "my people." I mentioned my mom (and 3 gens earlier) lived in N.O. and my grandmother worked at a competing hotel. "Which one?" We were there for Easter weekend & spent a lot of time at chart room. You are truly missed. We shared a lot of great memories about you & toasted you with a Heineken. The employees of the hotel monteleone say that you´re a regular visitor now. Gods speed my friend until we meet up again!

God Bless Hotel Al. He took care of me and my siblings when we were little kids in the mid sixties while my grandfather went to the racetrack. i saw him each time I was in town for events, and he always remembered me. What a legend and what a great documentary the did for him. Every time I sent my foot down on Royal street I will think of him. God Bless the Barris family and the Monteleone family.
