Today, on the eve of a full moon, I planted tomatoes in your honor. Sparked by memories of your phone calls asking when is this month's full moon so you can plant your tomatoes. Not sure if the full moon had any influence. I believe it was through your nurturing care that you brought to us, year after year, bags full of sun gold tomatoes.

It's been a week and I'm still struggling to find the words to express my love and gratitude for Aleks' influence on my life. He truly was my father figure. I'll forever hold in my heart his kindness and acceptance of me -his love for me. He will continue to be at every party and he'll show himself in our acts of hospitality. He taught us well.
