Aleta Gail Simmons

Aleta Gail Simmons was born on April 26, 1965 in Moncks Corner, SC to Mr. Alvin Simmons, Sr. and Mrs. Bennie S. Simmons. On December 26, 2022, our beloved Aleta transitioned to eternal rest. She was preceded in death by her brother Elvin Larry Simmons and father Alvin Simmons, Sr. 

Aleta received her education in the public schools of Berkeley County. At an early age she became a lifelong member of Greater St. James AME Church. In 1983, she graduated from Berkeley High School. After graduating from Berkeley High School, Aleta worked as an Assistant Manager at several local restaurants as well as a position with Robert Bosch. Her last and most favorable job was helping countless working parents in her community by providing childcare for their children. Aleta’s love for her extended family was so overwhelming that at times the children did not want to leave her presence. Both the community and the family will greatly miss her devotion to others, her motherly love and her genuine spirit.

Those left to cherish fond memories of Aleta’s life are her mother, Bennie S. Simmons; siblings Rodney Simmons (Yolanda), Jackie Simmons, Eric E. Simmons (Elaine), Alvin Simmons II; her special friend, Terry Rogers; nephews (Enaje, Josh and Rakeen); and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins and other relatives and friends.

Viewing will be held Monday, January 2, 2023, 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Face masks are required. A Celebration of Life Service will be held Tuesday, January 3, 2023, 11:00 a.m., at Greater St. James AME Church, 1831 Jedburg Road, Summerville, SC. Interment will be in Willson Cemetery, Moncks Corner, SC.
