Not sure what to say?

Dear Naomi and family, Alex was one in a million. You were all very blessed to share your lives with such a special human being. Everyone who knew and loved him was. I know how hard this year has been, and hope that you find comfort and peace as you continue to remember and cherish his memory. Love, Carol

On this year anniversary of his departure l remember dear Alex for the wonderful teacher, mentor, colleague, leader and beloved friend that he was and always will be. He was and is a brightly shining star! May his loving family take comfort in this.

During the past year, I have often taught about the impact of Alex in my life and that of so many others. Your legacy lives on in the lives of the many you have influenced. I wish your entire family health, happiness, and joy.

I´ve just stumbled upon this obit... thinking about the friend my family called " big Alex" since he was several years my senior. It must´ve been about 70 years ago that he introduced me to American culture as a somewhat earlier, immigrant to it himself. Throughout my mother`s life and career as a social worker and professor, he was a help and a reminder to her of the continuity from the old country, Poland, through the war and their post war lives into the 21st-century. No, I haven´t seen...

Alex was a most revered and beloved groupwork colleague and friend. HIs contribution to the field was great but his friendships and caring for his students, colleagues and friends even greater. He is sorely missed and will ever be remembered.

My deepest condolences for you and your family Naomi.

Dearest Bunny and family. I just learned of Alex´s death and send heartfelt condolences to all of you. As he did for so many, Alex inspired me and changed my life. I will be forever grateful and keep his cherished memory in my heart.

Alex was a wonderful man, social worker, group worker, mentor and group work giant. He was a professor at Columbia university when I was in grad school there and I wanted so badly to take his class but it was full! I was so fortunate to cross paths with him again through IASWG and was honored to have him on my dissertation committee. His life is an inspiration. He will be greatly missed.

My deepest condolences to the family of Dr. Gitterman. He was truly a remarkable man, scholar, and leader in the field of social work, and I am a better social worker for having learned from him. The honor was truly mine. May his memory be a blessing and your memories comfort you as you mourn. Hillary Kranc UConn School of Social Work `17
