Alex Kuo

I enrolled in graduate school at WSU as a non-traditional student in 1992. I took a wonderful class from Alex Kuo, "Literature of the American West." I remember his story about arriving in St. Maries, Idaho, as a temporary employee of the U.S. Forest Service to fight a blister-rust outbreak in the white pine forests. Alex later served on my Ph.D. committee through my preliminary exams. He was an amazing professor!

Professor Kuo was my favorite teacher at WSU. I took both his Native American Literature class and his American Literature of the West class.

Professor Kuo´s literature classes at WSU made me a better person. The literature through which he guided me change my life. I often tell stories which took place over 30 years ago about the readings I attended with him or attended to listen to him. Alex Kuo was a gift.
