Alex Loya
October 17, 1930 - February 21, 2019
Born in Los Angeles, CA October 17, 1930, the youngest of four children to Alex Loya Sr. and Delfina Sigala Galaz, Alex Loya passed away February 21, 2019. He is survived by his wife of 62 years Alice and their three loving sons; John of Commerce, CA, David (Pat) of Rancho Cucamonga, CA and Michael (Ron) formerly of Pasadena CA and Scottsdale, AZ, as well as oldest brother Art of Southgate, CA, age 96 and grandsons Eric and Brandon Loya. He is predeceased by his brother Armando and by his sister Alicia.
Born at the start of the Great Depression, Alex learned the value of hard work and fiscal responsibility early in life. He held positions with LA Period Furniture, Sears Roebuck, Inc, and the City of Commerce, CA while providing a solid upbringing for his family.
He took pride in his home and loved to garden winning the Home of the Year Award in 2004 from the City of Commerce. His other hobbies included traveling, especially to Hawaii, as well as auto racing where he was well-known. Alex will be greatly missed by his family, relatives, friends and neighbors. Services will be held Thursday, February 28th at 9:30 AM at St. Marcellinus Catholic Church with burial to follow at Resurrection Cemetery in Rosemead, CA. May he rest in peace.
