Dr. Nickon was my research director during my successful Ph.D. candidacy at Johns Hopkins 1960 to 1965. He was one of the finest men I've ever known. When my project took us outside of Dr. Nickon's area of expertise and interest and seemed to being nowhere, instead of demanding that I switch to a project of interest to him, he reluctantly allowed me to continue on my own. This was a great benefit to me because it forced me to become independent. And it turned out to be a great learning...

Dr. Nickon was my research director in the chemistry department at Johns Hopkins. He was one of the finest people I've ever known. He encouraged independence in his graduate students, wanting them to be creative themselves rather than simply a pair of hands to carry out his own ideas. He also took a personal interest in his students. Dr. Nickon was my friend. I visited him several times at Johns Hopkins after I finished my graduate work.

Peace and rest of his departed soul. I sent several gmail at JohnHopkins. No answer I got. He wrote me that he had problem of eye sight and went to live with his daughter's family. I received a big blow at his death. Though I did not get an opportunity to work with him, I received advice and suggestions when I faced difficulties of my work.
