Not sure what to say?

hi it is Johanna barkas

Eight years since his passing. Wow! He left us way too soon. I remember him as the kind of human being who served and serves as a model-- soft spoken, intelligent, generous, mature, funny, loving to his family and friends and to others who passed his way, whether at board meetings, at work, at reunions, or in conga lines. A true leader. Even as just an acquaintance of his, I miss him.

I will remember my dad Alex Barkas as a kindhearted, amazing, easy to talk to dad. I was 3 when he died but I still remember the great times I had with him. I wish he was here to see all these beautiful comments on his death. I will truly miss him he will always have a space in my heart. I miss you dad.

Gregg, if you and Cal can clone human telomerase, your bonus will be this big.

We are all heart broken that Alex is gone, but I think he would like us to be celebrating the good times we had with him. And for me these were numerous. I first met Alex in early 1992 when he and Mike West visited me in Canada to talk about bringing telomere biology to a small biotech company, Geron, in Menlo Park. That led to a 17 year relationship where Alex was my friend and mentor while being Geron's founding CEO and Board Chairman. Were it not for Alex, Geron's accomplishments in...

We at the winery just heard the news today. All of us, especially Bob, Dave & Jayme, are in a state of deeply felt sadness. Prayers for Lynda and all.

First met Alex at Brandeis orientation in September 1964. He appeared as lost as I was. Last saw him at the 35th class reunion in 2003 when he joined the conga line just behind me as we made fools of ourselves and had a great time. Though he was just an acquaitance, I will miss him. He really made a difference. My condolences to Lynda, Alina and Johanna.

I had the opportunity to work for Alex for eight years as his back-up assistant; Alex was such a genuine person, easy to talk with and had so much compasion for life -- I will truely miss Alex. My thoughts and prayers go out to Lynda, Alina, and Johanna.

I knew Alex from the vcery early start of his career. He was a gentleman, caring and sincere individual. I will miss bumping into him at the many meetings we attended. A great loss.

Stella and Peter--so shocked and sorry to learn about your brother Alex's sudden death. My deepest sympathies to you and your families. Love and prayers.
