Alexander E. Carter "Alex", the first of three children born to Howard and Theresa (Tumlin) Carter, came into this world on March 1, 1982 at Balboa Naval Hospital in San Diego, California. He passed away at his home on Wednesday, April 29, 2009 in Atkins, Arkansas. He attended Pottsville High School in Pottsville, Arkansas. His dream was to be in the military and in 2006 that dream came true when he enlisted in the Army National Guard. Unfortunately that dream wasn't meant to last; Alex was discharged for Medical reasons shortly before his death. Alex was predeceased by his grandfather; Marvin E. Tumlin, grandfather; Marvin F. Carter, grandmother; Adella R. (Collins) Cockrell, grandfather; Orville "Bud" Cockrell. Alex is survived by his father; Howard Carter of Russellville, Arkansas, mother; Theresa (Tumlin) Carter of Barstow, California, wife; Amber (Goodall) Carter of Atkins, Arkansas, a son; Cole, and daughter; Isabella, both of Atkins, Arkansas, daughter; Emory, of Russellville, Arkansas, grandparents; Dick and Barbara (Mantz) Bryson of Barstow, California, grandmother; Colleen (Evans) Carter of Utah, brother; Jason Carter and sister; Angela Carter both of Barstow, California, twin half-sisters; Emily and Sara Carter of Plumerville, Arkansas, uncles; Bruce Carter (wife-Dolene) of Texas, Clif Tumlin (wife-Norma) of Arkansas, Darrell Tumlin of California, Bob Johnson (wife-Jenn) of Kansas, aunts; Tricia (Carter) Perkins of Texas, Kathy (Tumlin) Carle (husband-Don) of Utah, Denise Tumlin of California, and cousins; Corinna Marliss, Tina Tumlin, Darla (Tumlin) Tyler, Shelli (Tumlin) Wells, Tara Tumlin, Kim Tumlin, Darrell Tumlin Jr., Shaun Tumlin, Whitney Tumlin, Shannon Rohn, Robert Rohn, Kyle Carle, Bobby Johnson, Danny Johnson, Bruce Carter Jr., John Carter, Anna Marie Elam. Services for Alex were held in Atkins, Arkansas. Alex's ashes were buried at the foot of his grandparent's, Orville "Bud" R. and Adella R. Cockrell, grave. He is truly loved and missed by all.

Not sure what to say?

Your dad passed away in August 2022. He is now pain free and in peace but it doesn't make it any easier. I still have a hard time with your death even after 13 1/2 years. I miss you, son. Love you

Your daughter had a little boy making you a grandpa and me a great grandmother. He's 2 years old and his name is James. Love you forever, Mom

Gone 13 years and I still want to cry every time I write in this guestbook. I'll miss you forever and I'll love you always.
Love, Mom

11 years have passed and the longer you're gone the more sad I am that you're not here to see your children become adults; your neices and nephews will never get to meet you and most of all, I don't get to see you growing older along with the rest of us. You would've been 38 years old. Today is Angela's 30th birthday, Jason is 31 and they both have 3 children each. It seems like I'm just writing a letter and you're still just a few states away, but my heart knows you're not. I love and miss...

It's been 10 years since you left us. You're always on my mind and forever in my heart. I love you son. I'll see you when it's my time to leave this earth. Love forever, Mom.

I've heard it gets easier in time but, what is it that gets easier? It's been 9 years and the pain of losing my child never goes away.

Happy birthday son! Today you would have been 36 years old. I love and miss you always.

Thinking of you as I always do. It doesn't get any easier as they say..... I love you and miss you!
