I was one of those students Sandy graced with his time and his wisdom -- not just when I was at UVA, but for decades after. He was indeed a great storyteller, and a better friend. He was calm, kind, generous and principled. May the wamth of his memory and the strength of his legacy comfort the many people whose lives he enriched.
