Not sure what to say?

Alex, your death changed the lives of everyone in your family and all of your friends. I know your earthly body is no longer in that grave; I truly pray that you are in the arms of Jesus Christ. Love you!

God grant you the light in Christmas, which is faith; the warmth of Christmas, which is love; the radiance of Christmas, which is purity; the righteousness of Christmas, which is justice; the belief in Christmas, which is truth; the all of Christmas, which is Christ.

I've been searching my brain for all the right things to say in here to the Hartungs and to all our friends, but nothing has seemed right. Alex was my best friend, much like he was everyone else's, but at the same time he was so much more. No words can say how I feel or how sad that I am that he is gone. In true Alex fashion I know we need to smile, have a drink, and just keep going. Adam, Mary, Grant, and Spencer, if you ever need anything I'm only a phone call away. Ni Haio!

I was shocked to hear of the sad news. Although, I never had the chance to meet Alex, my heart still goes out to the entire Hartung Family. My thoughts and prayers are with you.

Alex is still a part of our legacy. The Hartungs are survivors and we will survive this as so many others, but not well. It is our nature to not let go. Love you all Adam, Mary, Grant and Spencer and wish I could have spent more time with you. It was a rough drive home. This is hard! Life isn't fair! But with God and Faith we will see him again. Know that he is loved even yet today and will always be in our hearts. So young and so much to live for; as you, we will miss him greatly.

I was so saddened to hear about Alex and I pray for your family at this time.

Even those who didn't get to see Alex very much were touched by his life. I really enjoyed seeing him working on the baja car and at the competitions and we loved hearing about how he kept everyone laughing even when they had to pull all-nighters working on the baja car. He knew how to make people smile.

Dear Hartung Family, Alex was a great friend to our daughter Jenny. College would never have been the same without him for her. The rides, hanging out times, beer nugget runs, and french toast dinners will never be forgotten. We will always remember him best for his smile, wit and that cowboy hat! Our hearts are breaking for your loss. We hope that amidst the grief you will know in your hearts that despite being here for only 21 years, he really lived them all to their fullest.

Our thoughts and prayers are with you in your time of grief. May your memories bring you comfort.

Dear Adam, Mary, Grant and Spencer -
We were so shocked and saddened to hear about the accident. We will always remember the last time we saw Alex - he had come over to help Charlie with his Jeep "project". He gave of his time unselfishly - he had a big and kind heart. We will continue to keep you in our daily prayers that you might find strength and comfort at this very difficult time.
