Alexander Clark Hunt

Alexander Clark “Alex” Hunt died Monday, March 8, 2021.

Alex was born in Clermont, Florida. He graduated from Clermont High School and received a B.A. degree from East Tennessee State.

Alex was a renaissance man. Many people knew Alex as an extremely talented and experienced pilot. Beginning alongside his parents — both Flying Farmers — he learned to fly at a young age and never gave it up. He was recognized for the number of flight hours, and, by many, for his help with learning to fly. He loved to talk about airplanes and flight.

In his lifetime, he held three U.S. patents: a child safety lock, a coupler, and, most recently, the Revolutionary Full Body bicycle, which was featured with WECT, https://www.wect.com/story/38650976/nc-inventor-creates-new-bike-with-3-pedals/. He was an avid music lover and songwriter, particularly songs with political humor. He appreciated the beauty of the earth and cared deeply about the environment. His efforts on behalf of our climate was a recent endeavor. He took an active role in helping the less fortunate with food, clothing and goodwill. Alex was a member of AOPA.

He traveled throughout his life and lived in four U.S. states and three countries. Besides his inventive and curious mind, Alex loved to entertain friends with jokes and stories. Finally, anyone who knew Alex knew of his love for friends, family and the constant companion of a dog, currently his boxer, Rip.

An Alex original for you all, “Why did the little boy stop hitting his thumb with the sledge hammer? Because it felt so good when he stopped.” Perhaps his last joke written as a last line on his will, “No guilt. Bye ya’ll!”

He was preceded in death by his mother, Doris Overton Hunt; father, William Clark “Bill” Hunt; sister, Sally Hunt; and daughter, Holly Hunt Coe.

He is survived by his life partner, Kathy R. Fox; grandson, Jarred Kerman; nieces, Doris Smith and Phyllis Wiggins; and grandniece, “Little” Kathy.
