Al was a favorite friend of mine. I only knew him for about 10 years but we had much in common. We were both born and raised in central Connecticut and we shared stories about how things were back in the good old days. Always a smile and a warm greeting from this polished gem of a man. I would sometimes see him at the hardware store or lawnmower repair shop. I could tell him of my antique home restoration and he would tell me of his projects too.
