Al was a wonderful person and a great mentor. I enjoyed his company immensely. Whenever he came by the house he would have a trunk full of "day olds" to share with me and my family. My kids remember him fondly as do I.

My deepest condolences to Leslie and Allison and family. I swam with the girls growing up and have always thought of our swim family with some of the sweetest and fondest memories. I hope your hearts will heal and all of the stories you can share with each other will ease your pain. Dear Uncle Alex was always there when we needed him, and he always had my mom's (his sister Jill's) back, including saving her from a rip tide in Yachats when she was four years old. We will always treasure him, his warmth and wisdom. We know he will be with us in our hearts everyday. Love, Jill Mackie and daughter, Linda
