Alexander David Nislick

My wife Barbara and I are so saddened with the news of Alex´s passing. Alex and I are distant cousins. His grandfather and my grandfather were brothers. But we were fortunate to both share the same family name. We met on a couple of occasions, once in NYC at the home of his brother Steven and also in Maine near where Alex moored his beloved sailboat. Alex was my neighbor. He also worked with my Mom back in the 70's and early 80's. Whenever he'd see us out in the yard he'd stop and chat awhile. He will be remembered fondly by myself and my family.

I worked with Alex at the Brattleboro Retreat. In fact, he told me that they were hiring. Alex was more than a co-worker, he was a friend. We shared stories along the way at The Mole's Eye Cafe, and more recently as he enjoyed his morning coffee at The Brattleboro Food COOP. In his later years, he grew more quiet and reserved, but he'd open up to talk of his love of sailing. A good man, creative, and a hardworker. He is missed by those who knew him. Rest in peace Alex.
