McComas Family Funeral Homes - Bel Air Obituary

Alexander Oleska, age 53, of Edgewood, MD passed away on February 17, 2016 at his home. Born in Baltimore, he was the son of the late Stanley J. and Doris F. Oleska. A devout Catholic, he attended Prince of Peace Church in Edgewood and volunteered, for the last 26 years, at every church event including weekly Bingo. He considered the parishioners a second family. Alex was very dedicated and active in Alliance at Belcamp and was a member of the Knights of Columbus. He earned the distinction of fourth degree Knight within 12 months, and dedicated his time to assisting the veterans at Perry Point Veterans Hospital. Mr. Oleska received numerous accolades from both organizations for his service, philanthropy and dedication. His hobbies included fishing and volunteering. Mr. Oleska is survived by his brothers and sisters: Gerard Oleska and wife, Tonya, Joseph Oleska and wife, Mary Ann, Marian Bollinger, Stan Oleska and wife, Karen, Diane Ronkainen and husband, Jim. Alex is uncle to Joshua Michels, Aimee Morill, Jennifer Hess, Nicholas, Laura and Benjamen Oleska, Steven, John and Kathleen Uhl, Haley and Mitchell Anderson, Millicent, John, Anna, Monica, Thomas and Daniel Ronkainen; and great uncle to six nieces and nephews. Stan and Helen Kufera and Earle and Kathy Prior were great friends. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his sisters, Theresa Oleska and Millicent Anderson. Visitation will be held at McComas Funeral Home, P.A. in Abingdon, MD Tuesday, February 23, 2016 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. and on Wednesday, February 24 from 10-11 a.m. at Prince of Peace Church in Edgewood with Mass following at 11 a.m. Please in lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to Birthright, 38 E. Gordon Street, Bel Air, MD 21014.
