I am deeply saddened to hear that Alex has passed away.
From the day we met in 1973, I admired his passion for music, his dedication to the pursuit of truth through music, and the enthusiasm with which shared those truths in performance as a pianist, conductor, and pedagogue.
We have not had any significant contact since I moved to New York in 1977, but the world of music will miss his spirit.
Rest in Peace..
