Alexandria Louise Rose

Alexandria (Alex, Sandra, Mimi) Louise Rose went to her eternal home with the Lord on August 30th 2025. Born on October 20, 1933, in Quincy, Illinois, Alex was the second oldest of seven children.
Preceded in death by her beloved oldest child Steve Rose, his wife Ruby of Kingsland, Texas. Brothers, Richard K. Haroz of Geneva, Switzerland; Tom Haroz, his wife Judy of Albuquerque, New Mexico; brother-in-law, Manfred Tamm of New Jersey.
In June of 1955, Alex married James Edward Rose in Dallas. Together they were blessed with four children.
Alex attended elementary school in Quincy before moving with her family to Dallas, Texas, where she graduated with honors from Highland Park High School as a member of the National Honor Society. Continuing her education at Southern Methodist University in Dallas, and earning a Bachelor of Science degree in Education. In 1973, she received her Master's degree in Education and Counseling from Sul Ross State University in Alpine and was licensed as a Professional Counselor and Diagnostician in the state of Texas.
During her years on earth, Alex faithfully served the Lord as a member of St. Ann's Catholic Church and as a counselor at St. Ann's School. Retiring after 35 years of dedicated service with Midland Independent School District and four years with Dallas ISD. Alex went into private practice with the Samaritan Counseling Center of West Texas as well as Heritage Counseling Center of Midland.
Her volunteer work was extensive, including service with the Midland Rape Crisis Center, American Cancer Society, American Volkssport Association, Petroleum Museum, Santa Rita Club, and the Alzheimer's Association. Alex served as a Big Sister with the Big Brothers Big Sisters program. Volunteering at the Midland Children's Rehabilitation Center's hippotherapy program was among her most joyful endeavors. She was also a proud donor to Midland College's Friends of the Series program. A longtime member of the Pop-Up Toastmasters Club, Mineral & Gem Society and served as a state leader for AARP.
Music and the arts were a lifelong love of hers-she played the violin in her youth and performed one summer in the park with the Midland Symphony Orchestra. Alex was an active supporter of the Midland Community Theatre and for several years wrote the "Community Connection" column for the Midland Reporter-Telegram.
An avid walker and runner, alongside Jack Rogers in 2001, she helped establish the Midland Walkabout Volkssport Association, which still exists today.
Alex completed marathons in Boston, New York, and Dallas, as well as many 10K and half-marathon races.
Alex's pride and joy were her children.
Survived by her oldest daughter Cynthia (Kim) Shapley of Lorena, Texas. Daughters; Kimberly (Rowdy) Woodfin, their children Gabriel, Kenzie, Kate, and Landry of Kempner, Texas; Heather Shapley and son Hayes of Lorena, Texas.
Her youngest daughter Karen (Greg) Weeks of Fort Worth, Texas. Children; Branden (Sherry) Weeks, their children Kaleb, Addison, Hudson, and Sawyer of Midland, Texas; Jennifer (Matt) Hantelmann, daughters, Ainsley and Madison of Fort Worth, Texas.
Her youngest child Chris (Sandra) Rose of Odessa, Texas and daughter Logan of Florence, Italy.
She is also survived by sisters, Charlotte (Chuck) Renne of Denver, Colorado; Mary Tamm of Princeton, New Jersey, brothers, Don (Carole) Haroz, of Keswick, Virginia; Mike (Betsy) Haroz of Cambridge, Massachusetts. Many beloved nieces and nephews from all over. Old friends and her new "2nd Floor Gang" friends at Manor Park.
One of the greatest joys of Alex's life was the opportunity to lovingly care for her family. Her devotion to faith, family, education, and community will be remembered always.
The family would like to thank all of the staff at Manor Park for their care and making her feel at home the last 2 years and also Helene for being the sweetest companion and friend.

Family will begin to welcome friends and family for a visitation on Friday, September 5, 2025 at 4:00 PM at Ellis Funeral Home, 4616 North Big Spring Street, Midland. A rosary will follow at 7:00 PM. A funeral mass will occur Saturday, September 6, 2025 at 2:00 PM at St. Ann's Catholic Church, 1906 W Texas Ave, Midland, TX. A committal will occur Saturday, September 6, 2025 at 3:00 PM, at Ellis Resthaven Funeral Home and Memorial Park.
