I met Dr. Holguin (Al) when I first came to work on public health along the Texas-Mexico Border over 20 years ago. always listened to him carefully... lots of respect for him... such a great prescence. And great hair! Best wishes.

So sorry for your loss. I first met Dr. Holguin while I served as the Florida Border Health Education and Training Centers Statewide Administrator. A consummate public health professional, Dr. Holguin leaves a legacy of commitment to securing improved health for the medically underserved of not just the state of Texas, but of the US. I am so sorry for your loss. Dr.Holguin was one of my mentors in graduate school and a man I have channeled numerous times throughout my life since those years in San Antonio. He shared his passion and dedication to public health, community, and family in every conversation. He helped me explore and develop my own passion and create my professional and personal path. The world is a little darker without him, but I know his light shines bright within all the many lives he touched.
