I worked under Al Brittain's transformational leadership for nearly all of my 15 years at BT. He truly was a gentlemen, and keeping his finger on the pulse of the firm and the spirit of its people was always one of his highest priorities. I always smile when I recall his insisting we stop for breakfast and a personal few minutes before heading out for a full day of client calls in the Bay Area--and his smiling, as he told me these were one of the few chances where he could sneak in an order...

I worked for Al at BTCo for many years. He was a fine gentleman, a superb banker, and the world will be a sadder place without him. I will never forget the "Chairman's Cup" sailing races or the time we flew to the ABA convention in Hawaii - with only two seats left in First Class, which he and Ginny took, leaving me in steerage. Good-bye Al. I'll miss you.

Eloise and I extend our deepest sympathies to the Brittain family. We share with you in your loss. I will always remember Al for his kindness and his friendship. Once during a collection matter in which I was involved, Al was forced to testify in court under threat of federal subpoena. He called me later that day saying that it was the first time he had ever been forced to testify and, if I ever caused him that much grief again, he would fire me.
