Funeral for Alfred Ernest Cheatham, 66, of Decatur will be Friday, July 2, 2010, at 11 a.m. at Shelton Funeral Home Chapel with Tommy Andrews, Gary Patton and Harold Bailey officiating. The family will receive friends today from 4 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be in Cheatham Cemetery.

Mr. Cheatham, who died Tuesday, June 29, 2010, at his residence, was born August 11, 1943, in Morgan County. He enjoyed going to Somerville Road Church of Christ, grandchildren's ball games, being with family and friends, and living life to its fullest.

He is survived by his loving wife, Jackie Howell Cheatham; two sons, Al Cheatham Jr. and wife, Leslie, of Decatur and Allen Cheatham and wife, Melanie, of Huntsville; five grandchildren, David Wood, Lauren Cheatham, Whitney Cheatham, Trey Cheatham and Mack Cheatham; and one great-granddaughter, Isabella Wood.

Pallbearers will be David Wood, Keith Moore, Bennie Pointer, Ray Osborne, Jerry Fields, Bill Bailey, Wayne Shelton and Bruce Cheatham.

In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests memorial donations be made to Hospice of North Alabama.
