Alfred-HACK-Obituary

Alfred Walter HACK

Notice

October 2, 1936 - February 15, 2013

Alfred passed away at Dufferin Place, Nanaimo, BC on February 15, 2013 in his 76th year after a long, courageous battle with cancer. He was predeceased by his parents, brother Vern and nephew Brian. He will be sadly missed by his loving wife Sylvia of 54 years, his sister Cristel and brother Harry, sister-in-law Hilda (Vern), son Michael (Wanda), daughter Linda (Werner), son James (Jackie), six grandchildren, three great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Born in Germany, Alfred came to Canada with his family in 1948 and settled in Vancouver. Married in 1958 to Sylvia, they had the three children and enjoyed life in many different areas in BC, with special friends made and kept. He enjoyed family, fishing, reading, gardening and his pets and the birds. His working years were much a part of his life right up until 2011 when ill-health forced him to retire. Special thanks to Dr Poteryko, the staff at NRGH and Dufferin Place for the excellent care during the last two months of his life. His kind neighbours and friends from the mill were his mainstay, as well. His wishes were cremation, no service, with thanks to First Memorial Funeral Services for the final arrangements. In lieu of flowers, if wished, donations can kindly be made to Cancer Society of BC in Alfred's memory.
