Not sure what to say?

Great man, great doctor, great friend. Miss you Al.

Seeing these heartfelt posts about my Dad is incredibly touching and special for me. I knew very early on as a boy, that something was different about the way other adults interacted with my Father.

There was a very high level of respect and admiration, and he truly cared for all of his friends and patients. Such selfless people are quite rare these days.

Big Doc Al was as devoted to his family as any child could ask for. The time he spent at home with us, coaching us in...

I worked with Al as the office nurse in the Internal Medicine and Gastrodenterology practice in Millburn, N.J. He was a joy to work for, an great asset to the medical professional who truly cared about his patients. He will be greatly missed. As a husband, his devotion to his wife and then only son was exhibited regularly. Rest in Peace Al. Penny, please contact me at [email protected]

Dr. Helwig was my doctor for over 20 years and was the best doctor anyone could want to have. Always patient, wise, and caring- I owe my health and indeed my life to him.

I was devastated to learn of his passing- much too soon- but what a life he led! My heartfelt condolences to his family and to his friends too. We will always miss him.

May God bless you and your family in this time of sorrow.

Our deepest condolences to Alfred's bereaved family.
As our MCU Medicine Class '79 is trying to reach out and connect with our classmates, it is sad and unfortunate that we lost one of ours. You will always be remembered Alfred! Rest In Peace.
