Dear Little Brother,
Today marks 2 years since you left us. I know you are in a wonderful place but I miss you so much. Not a day goes by that you are not on my mind and today is especially difficult. I know you have to be watching over Mama and me because I can not explain how we are holding ourselves together. I know you are around and I hope you can feel the love and warmth I send out to you, because I do feel you around me every now and then while I'm in the kitchen cooking away. I truly miss you, doll. We'll...

Gene (Alex) Lanier was our son, brother, grandson, uncle, and my best friend. Although we may have been separated by miles, our hearts were and still are very much connected. I am not surprised to see so many lives he affected in his short time in this world and know he continues to shine on us all in his afterlife.
Our family would like to thank everyone for the kind words, cards, and flowers, and a special thanks to his extended family out west who have been a great comfort to us all...
