When Judge Lerner was the administrative judge in Queens Supreme Court, I had the plesure and honor of working with him as the deputy attorney in charge of the Queens Legal Aid office. Despite demanding and often frustrating circumstances, his administration was productive and sensible. When he presided in court, he did so with welcomed judicial temperment and without favor to either side. He was resolute and efficient but always considerate and fair. I am sorry to read of his passing.
