Judge Alfred Moellering and his wife Carol have been a part of my adult life for as long as I can remember. Having worked in the arts for many years at the Embassy Theatre, Fort Wayne Civic Theatre and now IPFW, I have watched them love and support theatre and the arts with great joy and enthusiasm. You are a treasure and will live in our hearts forever.

I am expressing my condolences to the Moellering family and remembering his service to the citizens of northeastern Indiana and our country. My mother, Jerry, worked as his court reporter for many years, and always spoke highly of this man of great integrity and fortitude. And I know he was kind to and supportive of my mother. Moreover he was strong supporter of the theatre in Fort Wayne, my father's passion. My prayers are with Judge Moellering's family at this time.

Judge Marc Kellams

My sincere condolences to the family of a great man.

I deeply regret that I cannot express my sympathy to you in person. Judge Moellering played an important role in my career. I am honored to be counted as one of his law clerks and I have many fond memories of him. He had high expectations of the lawyers who appeared before him and of the many clerks who served under him over the years. Once you earned his respect, however, he remained a loyal and supportive colleague. I am a richer person and. I am sure, a better judge today, because of Judge Moellering. I will miss him. Be assured that by God's grace, he is now with Christ. We will keep you in our prayers.

I clerked for Judge Moellering in 1985. I have the fondest of memories of our days together. Regardless of whose feathers he ruffled, Judge Moellering believed in the sanctity of the judicial process. He was never afraid to make difficult decisions or call out ill-prepared lawyers in order to preserve the integrity of that process. He never hesitated to share a "teachable moment" with his law clerk. Any lawyer who crossed paths with Judge Moellering is a better lawyer because of the encounter. I know that I am.

The Moellering Family,
Judge Moellering was one of the best Judges to ever sit on the Bench in Allen County. You can all be very proud of him for what he did and what he stood for. A very remarkable person and always very interesting to talk to off the record. Stan Peters, ACPD K-9 104 Retired

His Honor retired some time before I became a Court employee; I saw him frequently over the lunch hour, sitting on a bench near the courthouse (back when there were shops and parking on the far side of the building). Bushy eyebrows, bow tie. I'd heard of him and introduced myself. Over the years, whenever I would see the judge, it was outside, people-watching, just as I was. He seemed grandfatherly, but I'd heard stories that he did not "suffer fools, gladly".

How refreshing and thoughtful, considering the impact attorneys and their actions have on the lives of the clients they represented.

His perspective was admirable and his smile was genuine.

My condolences to his family, friends, and the people who found themselves standing a little straighter for the next appearance in his courtroom.

My sincere condoilences to your family. As a law enforcement officer in the early 70's thru 90's, I welcomed Judge Moellering's honest opinion and decisions on the bench. He actually became a friend over time and I just shook his hand a couple weeks ago at the Rouseau Center. Little did I know it would be for the last time. I truly will honor and remember him with fond memories and stories. May he be favorably judged in the final courtroom of his everlasting life. And may God bless him and his family.

Al Moellering was a real standup guy who was elected to judicial office a year before I also became a judge. He was a man of firm, but fair convictions, not afraid to speak his mind and act upon his beliefs as to a just result. He was a man worthy of respect and his passing is our loss.
