Not sure what to say?

Probably many students did not see this or did not respond for whatever reason. Mr. Pugno was one of those teachers that was one of a kind. He connected with kids whether they were on track or extremely wild. A fun teacher that made it fun to learn.

I will never forget Mr. Pugno. I was shy and barely spoke and he would always say hello to me.--Enid Rogers High School Class 1988

Like many who have written here, I am fortunate to have been one of Mr. Pugno´s many students upon whom he left an everlasting impression. I thought of Mr. Pugno today when, of all things, I saw an internet meme where women asked men how often they think about the Roman Empire. This instantly brought me back to junior year in Mr. Pugno´s economics class. Mr. Pugno was an intensely curious and intelligent man. We would often observe him in deep contemplation as we worked on group projects....

Best teacher at Rogers High and an incredible role model for life. Mr Pugno inspired me to study economics and to dig deeper into philosophy, eventually leading me to teach in the Economics department at UC Berkeley. I fully believe that without his encouragement and faith in my abilities as a scholar, I would not be where I am today: completing a double PhD in Sociology and Mathematical Demography at UC Berkeley. When I am working on multi-year projects, I still remember his words from...

What a great teacher. Roger class of 1984

I had the opportunity to have Mr.Pugno for my home room teacher as well as my economics teacher.my favorite memories of him would be every morning him standing out by his room greeting everyone and smiling.i would let him know i was in attendence and i would skip homeroom and go to Mrs.Nichols choir room to sort out sheet music .I am now a supervisor with ecomm at my job.I also had Mr.Pugno for my economics class and remember the day he took us all out to lunch. Its great to have a teacher...

I did not have Mr. Pugno as a teacher, but I knew of many who did, of course. I remember him as being well-respected by and popular with his students. Condolences to his family and friends.

Rogers, 1977

He was a great addition to Rogers. Everyone knew Mr. PUGNO. May his family know he lives on in every student and persons lives he touched . He could bring history to life. A special teacher.

Condolences to the family, it is great to see that I am not the only one remembering and retelling the stories of almost 40 years ago. Mr. Pugno had a great wit and a gift of great story telling with enough drama ingrained to make you feel you were there with him. His passion recalling the time when a young John F. Kennedy asked for his vote while campaigning at the U of M and his candid response "well Mr Kennedy, I have a few questions about your views on foreign policy". At least that is...
