Louis Alfred Roark, 73, of Plantersville, died Tuesday, February 9, 2016, at Methodist Hospital - Willowbrook in Houston.
Funeral services were held 10:00 am Friday, February 12, 2016, at Lindley-Robertson-Holt Funeral Home. Rev. Marcus Bowen officiated. Graveside services with military honors followed at 1:00 pm in the Squires/New Hope Cemetery in Cleveland, Texas.
Louis sprouted into the world January 19, 1943 in Cleveland, Texas to Ruby and Willie Mae Barker Roark. He was an excellent student in the Cleveland Schools and at the age of 18 he joined the U.S. Air Force, Upon his retirement from the Air Force, they settled in Plantersville and Louis began working for the City of Navasota, retiring again in 2005. He enjoyed working in his garden and cooking, loved to fish, play chest and video games.
Louis was preceded in death by his parents, his wife of 52 years, Frances Ann, a daughter, Kelly Lynn Roark, sisters, Leah Simmons and Cynthia Phillips and a brother, Allen Roark.
Survivors include sons, David Mitchel Roark of Plantersville and Gene Morgan Roark and wife Sissi of Aquilla; a daughter, Rhonda Diehl of Montgomery; sisters, Lois Bay, Mary Camp, both of Navasota, Lynda Kennedy of Houston and Gloria Benson of Lago Vista; 7 grandchildren, numerous other relatives and a great number of friends.
For those that can, the family has asked in lieu of usual remembrances, that you donate blood in his memory, the gift of life.
