Alfred Loren Tremblay

Fred was a good friend of my family, especially my father Jack Streidl. I saw Fred many times through the years, but he would call me just to talk after my father passed in 2012. We always had long, interesting conversations. I was so thrilled to know what a dyed-in-the-wool Democrat he was! He was informed and fierce. I wish he could vote in this current election.

I knew Fred as one of my father´s closest friends. They had so much in common as Yooper´s, teachers, coaches, fathers, story tellers and card-players. Fred was good to my dad and drove to Plainwell to sit at our walnut dining room table to play pinochle with a group of four, weekly for years and then twice weekly once my mom passed and my dad didn´t get out much. I played 3 sports he coached, with basketball being my speciality. He was tremendously bright with great discipline. He was the first coach at SHS to win 3-4 district basketball tournaments. Also the first ever to win their first Regional, and Quarter final game, making theState Semi B.B. finals. That team went on to finish with a 21-1 record. He was always fair to me and encouraged me to go into teaching and coaching. I did tha t for 4 years and moved into Administration for26 years. I...
