Manning-Heffern-O’Neill Funeral Home - Pawtucket Obituary

Alice (Soares) Carello, 87, a lifelong resident of Pawtucket, passed away peacefully on Saturday, May 14, 2022. She was the loving wife of Anthony Joseph Carello for 63 years. Born in Fall River, Massachusetts, she was the daughter of the late Jose and Mary (Martins) Soares.

Alice graduated as valedictorian in 1952, from Sacred Heart High School. She graduated from Memorial Hospital School of Nursing in 1955, and was a nurse at Memorial Hospital for 40 years before retiring. She enjoyed volunteering at the Salvation Army and entertaining her many friends with lunch and a game of Rummikub. She was an avid reader and loved to bake, however spending time with her family gave her the most joy. Alice will be sorely missed by all who were blessed to know her.

She is survived by her six children, Michael, Peter and Sharyn Farley, Matthew and Lanni, Mary Charlayne, the late Arnie and Jonathan. She would proudly boast about her seven grandchildren: Angela, Lauren, Michael, Steven, Paige, Ryan and Madison and her five great grandchildren: Leia, Emmett, Franklin, Sami and Elliott. Alice is predeceased by her brother Joseph Soares. She also leaves behind many beloved nieces and nephews.

Family was everything to Alice.

Relatives and friends are kindly invited to a Mass of Christian Burial Saturday, May 28th at 11AM at St. Joseph Holy Family Parish, 195 Walcott St., Pawtucket.

The burial will be private. Visiting hours are respectfully omitted.

Not sure what to say?

My heartfelt wishes to the family. She is missed as I remember all the times I would come and play with Army.

I am sad to hear of Alice's passing. You are all in my heart and prayers. God Bless!

My sympathy to the Carello Family and especially to Alice's son, Michael, whom I know through seafaring. Your beloved, Mother, was amazing! Valedictorian, nurse, mother, and Friend. She will be missed but not ever forgotten. May her Soul Rest in Peace.

Tony, I am so saddened to learn of the loss of your dear wife, Alice. They say that time helps heal but it is the love and support of those around you that will help you through this very sad time.
