As a new special education teacher at Ashaway School in 1983, I was assigned Alice as my classroom assistant. I could not have been more fortunate. Her loving and patient nature, knowledge of children, and warmth made her the perfect colleague in the classroom. She became a mentor and a friend, often giving very wise counsel not only for teaching but also parenting. She will be sorely missed by all those who knew and loved her.
