Alice was born in Flint, Michigan on August 15, 1930, the daughter of the late Augustine and Soledad Gonzalez.  She graduated from All Saints High School in 1947.  On May 26, 1951, she married Alfonso Garza in Flint MI, and retired from General Motors AC Spark Plug after many years of service.  Alice enjoyed traveling, watching classic black and white movies, getting and sending cards in the mail, eating some sweets (gummy bears and chocolates), and her family – especially the grandchildren and great-grandchildren.  She also loved her faith and in earlier times was active in the church as a Eucharistic minister.  Alice impacted many people in her life through acts of kindness and compassion, a trait highlighted by those who met her for a brief moment in her life.

Surviving are her Sons Ric and wife Linda of Sparta, MI, Larry and wife Irene of Fenton MI; Daughters Nancy Gardner of Springfield MO, Diane and husband Greg Marciszewski of Boynton Beach, FL.

Grandchildren, Lindsay, Blake, Matthew, Jake, Danielle, and Gabrielle, and seven great-grandchildren.

Sister, Mireya Mackovyak.

And several nieces, nephews, and many special friends.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband Alfonso Garza, Daughter Terry Powell and Son-in-law Michael Gardener, Sisters Lucy (Leonard) Guerra and Irma (Elli) Macciomei, Brother Albert (Ione) Gonzalez, Brother-in-law Robert Mackovyak.

A special thanks to Lockwood of Fenton and The Medical Team there for all their compassionate care.

Not sure what to say?

A great light has been added in Paradise. She gave us our beloved Matthew and (2) grandkids. Our prayers and thoughts are with you this weekend.

Alice was a friend to my mother when mom needed one the most. All of my best living-in-Flint memories feature the Garza family. May you find comfort in knowing that she touched so many and truly made a difference!

Mrs Garza was a very special person to me and I cherish the visits, and phone calls we shared. She always got after me to call her Alice! Now she is resting in Heaven with her beloved daughter Terry, and husband Al. My sincere condolences to her beloved family. With love, Carol (Pucilowski) Kusky

Mama G. My second mom growing up. So many memories, too many to count. One of the most loving, genuine people I’ve known. What a full, wonderful life she had. You will be missed, Mama G, by all who loved you ❤

We were good friends with Al. We worked with him at Metal Fab. We are so sorry to hear about Mrs. Garza. Your family will be in our thoughts and prayers.

I grew up in Rolling wood knowing the Garza Family. They were like a second home for me. Al and Alice were so loved and will be missed by many.

Alice was not only my neighbor for years, but she was like my sister and my friend rolled into one sweet and loving. We walked the mall, ate A&W’s, laughed, cried and shared so many memories I’ll cherish. I got to know her whole family and they were my second family.
I’ll cherish and love you my dear friend Alice
