Your mother was at times my mother. I remember when she moved a mountain for me. I will NEVER forget that. She was one of the strongest women I have ever met. I'm sure that Mable was one of the first to greet her because she loved her dearly. You were lucky to have her as a mother and we were lucky to have known her. I am very sorry for your loss.

Truly a bright and wonderful light was gone out. The light that she cast in the Yuba-Sutter area will not be soon forgotten. Ms. Harris clearly let you know where she stood on any any issue, and I loved her for that. Her gatherings on Sunday evenings were a mixture of politics and down home visits.

I was so sorry to hear of the loss of this wonderful lady, but join in the celebration of a useful life, well lived and one that truly did make a difference. My memories of Mrs. Harris usually involved seeing her grab her handbag and stalk out of school board meetings to file yet another complaint with the appropriate agency. To the family of Zelma, I am so sorry for your loss, my father knew Zelma well and she was at our home many times. As children she babysat us a few times.....she was so kind.....the Clark family will never forget her!

Wow, I went to school with Raymond, Michael and Vernell for those many years and never knew your mother to be anything but an outstanding woman, strong and loving. Now that I read her history, I am further awed by her initiative and unrelenting desire to stand up for injustices that covered the entire spectrum. I wish I could be there, to honor her life.
